Meet Lisa

Lisa M. Gunshore

Author, educator, and spiritual philosopher

My work begins with questions—about the stories we carry, the patterns that shape us, and what it means to live with awareness and compassion.

Through my books, teachings, and Rocky Mauna School, I create spaces for self-inquiry, contemplative study, and embodied practice. My writing brings together personal experience, spiritual philosophy, and a curiosity about the many ways we come to know ourselves.

I’m also known by my spiritual name, Sundara Rishika Devi. Across the different expressions of my work, one invitation remains:

Where spiritual insight becomes embodied practice.

I followed the questions.

Over the past twenty years, my work has grown through the questions life placed before me. I wrote about what I was living, what I was trying to understand, and what I felt called to explore.

I never set out to create a body of work or the foundation of a school. I trusted the next question and allowed it to lead me.

Cherry Pie invited me to become honest about my story. Enlightenment Pie explored the ongoing relationship of healing. The Digital Mirror asked what my patterns were revealing, and Cutting Into It brought that awareness into daily practice.

Then The Witness Within asked the question beneath them all:

Who am I beneath everything I have experienced?

Alongside my writing, my path unfolded through Buddhist teachings, yoga, Ayurveda, intuitive practice, and contemplative inquiry. These experiences continue to shape how I understand myself and the work I share.

Only with time could I see the thread connecting it all. Each question opened a doorway. Each doorway invited me to live more consciously.

That exploration continues—in my writing, in my teaching, and in my own life.

Where spiritual insight becomes embodied practice.

My work brings together contemplative philosophy, self-inquiry, and the practical question of how we live what we discover.

Through Buddhist Biohacker, I explore the relationship between consciousness, the body, and the tools we use to understand ourselves—from meditation and journaling to scientific inquiry and emerging technology.

The Four Steps of Enlightenment Pie—awareness, wisdom, practice, and trust— offer a framework for this exploration. The Digital Mirror Method extends that inquiry into reflective dialogue with artificial intelligence, used as a tool for examining patterns rather than an authority on who we are.

Through Rocky Mauna School, these ideas become opportunities for study and practice: books, courses, yoga teacher training, immersive experiences, and community.

My work with Functional Ayurveda brings attention to the relationship between daily rhythms, nourishment, and physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Writing, film, and digital platforms give me additional ways to share these explorations and invite participation.

Across these different expressions, I return to the same intention: to help people cultivate a deeper relationship with themselves and bring greater presence, compassion, and conscious choice into everyday life.
